If you hold your hand over the right ear it turns transparency mode on. So you don't even have to pause your track to talk to someone asking you a question or If you thought you heard something you can turn it on, and want to turn it back off you just hold your hand over the earcup. (And it's only on the right side of the earcup).

By using the soundcore app you can customise music the way you prefer it to be.

Of course , this headphone is not perfect. But they do many things batter than their competition. Overall the Anker life Q30 is a good headphone, Although when It comes to sound quality it definitely is second to a non budget ANC headphone sound quality. The high frequencies has very slight sibilance and slight lack of clarity.
Sound Quality
Generally this headphone has a good sound quality. It gives the best sound quality for a headphone in this price basket. This headphone gives huge bass boost. Although in ANC mode the bass tends
to drop a little, but you will notice that automatically the headphone will try to bring it to the original sound quality. Thanks to the Equaliser app that soundcore has provided for this headphone you can dramatically change the way the headphone reproduce frequencies and balance the sound quality. (Though you use the equaliser the sound will not perfectly balance but it will do a difference.)
If you'd have to choose an Active Noise Cancelling headphone a couple of years ago you might have struggled with it. But Anker's Soundcore Life Q30 has shown how far the industry has come up in a short period of time building ANC headphones below $100.

The Soundcore Q30 is very boomy and muddy on low frequency bass which over-powered the mid and higher frequencies (good for Rock and HipHop though); the Soundcore App could not moderate this sufficiently.
